March 7, 2021 – All was going as planned for Westtown School as they commanded a 22 point lead in the third quarter on their senior night. Senior Ny’Mire Little had just made his ninth three point shot of the game and FSU commit, Jalen Warley (#46 ESPN), complemented Little’s career high with his seventh assist. The game was all but over until Torrin Andrews and AJ Burnett took control of the game.

“Bernie was struggling to get his legs under him in the first half, but like he said, when healthy [Andrew’s was out 4 weeks with a hurt groin], we’re the top guards in prep school; I told him to let me play the point, I’ll find you,” Andrews says.

In the last ten minutes of the game, Andrews and Burnett led Rocktop on a 30-8 run including a Andrew’s pull up jump shot to send the game to overtime. Although there were no fans, you could feel the temperature rise among the Westtown staff and the senior’s parents. In true championship fashion, the competitive action continued in overtime. Westtown’s Dereck Lively II (ESPN #40) and Rocktop’s AJ Burnett exchanged buckets and highlight dunks until the last ten seconds of the game with Westtown leading by only two points, 94-92.

Westtown decided to pressure Rocktop guard Bernie Blunt, forcing Andrews to make another big play. Unfortunately, Andrew’s missed. “I am never afraid of taking the big shot. I won the game verse Balboa School, I want these shots. I’ll make the next one and the one after that,” said Andrews.

“It was the best game of the season,” Rocktop coach Bernard Blunt stated, “obviously you want to win the game but I am happy our kids didn’t give up and we’re able to compete against some of the top players and teams in the country. I thought Torrin proved he’s at least a mid level guard, and AJ played great against one of the top bigs we played all season.”

Rocktop continues their season in the Phenom Prep Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina this weekend.
